Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo Border Chekpoint seized BGN 24 000 smuggled gold jewelry



Customs officers and Border Police officers at Kapitan Andreevo Border Checkpoint found BGN 24 333 gold jewelry. The smuggled gold jewelry were found of a minibus, traveling from Turkey to France via Bulgaria. The minibus arrived at Kapitan Andreevo BCP on 07.09.2017, driven by a Turkish citizen. In the car traveled his wife and their three children. The spouses did not declare any goods, precious metals or currency. Customs officers selected the car for customs inspection. During the inspection customs officers found plastic bags in the woman's suitcase hidden 13 bracelets, 2 chains, 1 pair of earrings and 1 coin. According to the expert estimation gold jewelry were with a total weight of 406.80 g of 14, 18 and 22 carats and worth BGN 24 333. Customs officers found 7 kg smoking tobacco and 25 boxes of cigarettes without Bulgarian excise label, in the driver's suitcase.

The jewelry, smoking tobacco and boxes of cigarettes were seized. A statement for violation of the Monetary Law and Law on Customs was issued againts the lady and man.
