Customs officers at Malko Tarnovo BCP seized more than 13 000 labels for clothes

Customs officers at Malko Tarnovo Customs Point seized 13 003 undeclared labels for clothes, on 3852 of them a logo of a world trade mark is inscribed. The smuggling labels were found in the luggage of a Romanian citizen, traveling by bus with Turkish registration, during a joint inspection of customs officers by the Directorate-General for Customs Intelligence and Investigation, the customs officers of the BCP and Border Police officers.

The bus with passengers arrived at the Malko Tarnovo BCP on September 7, 2019 around 11.00 pm from Turkey to Romania via Bulgaria. The driver and passengers have announced that they have nothing to declare. During the check, 3852 pieces of textile labels bearing Zara kids and 9150 labels of clothing composition and instructions, without a mark, were found in the luggage of one of the passengers. The smuggling total of over 13 000 labels were seized. An Act on the Violation of the Law on Customs was drawn up against the Romanian citizen. In accordance with Regulation (EU) No 608/2013, the official proprietor of the trade mark will also be informed.

21 cases of undeclared 'branded' goods infringing intellectual property rights have been detected by customs officials at the Malko Tarnovo Customs Office since the beginning of the year. The goods seized are mostly clothes, perfumes, shoes - imitations of world brands, in the latter case and labels.
