Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP seized marijuana worth over BGN 360 000
Customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo BCP seized 22,560 kg of marijuana during an inspection of a passenger car leaving the country.
On November 29, 2025, a Volkswagen passenger car with Bulgarian registration arrived at the checkpoint. The vehicle, driven by a Bulgarian citizen traveling alone from Bulgaria to Turkey, was selected for a thorough customs inspection by customs officers from the "Drug Trafficking Department".
During the control actions, a total of 79 vacuum-sealed polyethylene packages with green leafy matter were found under the rear seats, as well as under the carpet of the front seats and in the dashboard. A field drug test was conducted, which showed a reaction to marijuana. The packages with a total gross weight of 22,560 kg, worth 360,960 leva (184 555,92 euro) at prices for the needs of the legal proceedings, have been seized.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the case by an investigating customs inspector under the supervision of the Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office.
