750,000 pieces of cigarettes were detained by the customs officers near Danube Bridge-Vidin

750,000 pieces (37,500 boxes) of cigarettes without Bulgarian excise labels were detained by the customs officers of Danube Bridge-Vidin.

 

On 12.08.2024, a truck with Lithuanian registration was checked, which, according to documents, transports groupage goods from Greece to Lithuania. A thorough customs inspection was carried out. Customs officers found boxes of cigarettes hidden between pallets of hygiene materials.

 

On other pallets with "handmade coffee tables", customs officers found chests full of more cigarettes of the same brand, again without Bulgarian excise labels. 

 

The total amount of cigarettes in the truck was 750,000 pieces (37,500 boxes). The excise goods were seized. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated.
