Customs officers found a large quantity of drugs in a yacht

During a joint inspection of a yacht by customs officers and border police officers, 123 packages containing about half a kilogram of cannabis each, 600 grams of cocaine and a synthetic drug were found.

On 16.07.2024, at 11.30 a.m., an outbound inspection of a yacht leaving Bulgaria was carried out at the Port of Tsarevo checkpoint. The movement of the vessel on Bulgarian territory was controlled. Upon entering the territory of the port in the city of Tsarevo, the two defendants expressed a desire to cross over to Turkish territory. Customs officials and border police performed a "risk analysis" check minutes before the vessel heads into Turkish territorial waters. When checking in the sleeping quarters of the yacht more than 120 packages of dry grass were found - marijuana, ecstasy pills and cocaine. The total value of the narcotic substances according to legal proceedings amounts to over BGN 1,200,000. The yacht in which the drugs are hidden is owned by a Bulgarian trading company. It is currently seized. In the case, a pre-trial proceeding has been initiated, within which the operational work continues.
