A new attempt to illegally transfer gold y was prevented by the customs officers of the Kapitan Andreevo BCP. On 07/08/2022, a car with foreign registration, driven by a German citizen traveling from Turkey to Germany, arrived at the checkpoint. The car in which five people were traveling, three of whom were minors, was selected for a thorough customs inspection. During the inspection customs officers found six polyethylene bags containing articles of yellow metal - bracelets, necklaces and chains hidden in a suitcase among the clothes. According to the expertise made by the expert, the ornaments are made of 22-karat gold with a total weight of 1980.50 grams and a value of BGN 249,543.

In this case, a pre-trial proceeding was initiated by an investigating customs inspector under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office-Haskovo. The smuggled gold articles have been seized.

The driver was remanded on bail and prohibited from leaving the country except with the permission of the supervising prosecutor.

Over the past seven days, the customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP have detained over 10 kg of gold and over 1.5 kg of silver jewelry with a total value of over BGN 960,000.
