From 5th July 2024, the possibility of electronic payment of the "bridge" toll on the Danube Bridge - Rousse - Gyurgevo was introduced. The new option allows online payment of the toll for crossing the Danube Bridge - Rousse for all cars leaving Bulgaria (up to 8+1 seats), regardless of their country of registration. The possibility of paying on the spot in cash or with a bankcard is also preserved.
The possibility of online payment of a toll for crossing the Danube Bridge in the direction of Rousse - Gyurgevo is available on the e-Portal of the National Customs Agency at the following address: https://ep.customs.bg/eportal/public/index?pageId=40&isActive=id6
The Law sets the fee and it is the same for cash and cashless payment - EUR 2 or BGN 4. There are no additional transaction fees for online and cashless payment.
Online payment can be made in advance and at any time. After payment, the customer receives a confirmation to the e-mail specified by him. When the passenger car appears at the Danube Bridge - Rousse on the way out of the Republic of Bulgaria, a customs officer checks the payment of a toll for the respective vehicle by registration number.
The expectations are that through the new possibility of electronic payment of the "bridge" toll on the Danube Bridge - Rousse - Gyurgevo, the time for toll control for passenger cars will be significantly reduced, which will have an effect on easing traffic.
The "bridge" toll shall be administered by the National Customs Agency when crossing the Danube Bridge Rousse - Gyurgevo in the direction of exit from the country in accordance with Art. 10, para. 4 of the Roads Act and in accordance with the Tariff for the fees collected for crossing and use of the republican road network. When crossing the bridge in the opposite direction – from Romania to Bulgaria, the toll shall be administered by the Romanian authorities
The revenues from the "bridge" toll for passenger cars for 2023 amount to nearly BGN 2.8 million, and for the six months of 2024, they have already reached over BGN 1.225 million.
