Nearly 27,500 "branded" goods were seized by customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo BCP
27,480 pairs of slippers and sports shoes, textiles, bags and purses with trademark signs were seized by customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo BCP. The goods were seized due to suspicions of infringement of intellectual property rights. They were discovered during inspections of four trucks and three buses entering the country from Turkey.
The first case dates back to the end of January, when a tractor with a semi-trailer with a foreign registration arrived at the post. The driver, a Turkish citizen, presented regular documents for the groupage goods being transported from Turkey via Bulgaria to France. The truck was selected for a thorough customs inspection, during which 15,716 pairs of slippers were found among the declared goods, all with markings of world-famous brands.
At the beginning of February, during separate inspections of three trucks, among the declared goods, 10,408 textile items and 414 bags and purses bearing trademark logos were found. The “branded” goods were transported from Turkey to Western European countries. Another 864 items of clothing and 78 pairs of sports shoes were found in the personal luggage of passengers on three buses entering the country from Turkey.
In accordance with European Regulation 608/2013 on the protection of intellectual property, the goods were detained. The owners of the respective trademarks will be notified of the cases.
Since the beginning of the year, customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo BCP have detained nearly 50,000 commercial items due to infringement of intellectual property rights.
