Customs officers of the Territorial Directorate Sofia Customs seized smuggled electronic cigarettes, devices and liquids without excise stamps, as well as refills and batteries for them. Advertising key chains of a popular brand of electronic cigarettes were also found.
On 12.01.2026, customs inspectors at the Sofia Airport customs checkpoint checked two passengers arriving by flight from Turkey to Bulgaria. The passengers - citizens of the People's Republic of China - passed through the "green corridor" and were selected for a thorough customs inspection of their luggage. During the control actions in the luggage of one of the passengers, customs officers found a total of 169 smuggled electronic cigarettes of the "vape" type, devices and liquids without an excise stamp, refills and batteries for them. Another 1,350 advertising key chains with an image of a popular brand of electronic cigarettes were found.
The smuggled goods were seized. A case was drawn up against the offender for violating the Customs Act.
