Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP seized nearly 4 kg of gold and silver ornaments

Contraband 859.10 grams of gold and 3073 grams of silver jewelry with a total value of BGN 94,946 were seized by the customs officers during two separate inspections at Kapitan Andreevo BCP.

On 10.12.2023, the inspectors found 859.10 grams of gold items, when checking a truck with Turkish registration. The driver, a Turkish citizen, declared only the transported goods from Turkey to the Netherlands. The truck was selected for a thorough customs inspection, during which, in a factory cavity in the refrigeration unit of the semi-trailer, an envelope with articles of yellow metal - rings, chains, bracelets, necklaces - was discovered. According to the expert assessment of the expert, the ornaments are made of gold - 14 carats, and their total value is BGN 84,191.

In this case, a pre-trial proceeding was initiated by an investigative customs inspector under the supervision of the Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office. Against the driver, a remand measure was taken, a monetary guarantee and a ban on leaving the borders of the country without the permission of the supervising prosecutor.

The next day, 11/12/2023, a semi-trailer truck with foreign registration, transporting goods from Turkey to Serbia, arrived at the checkpoint. In the course of the control actions, in the instrument panel in the driver's cabin, the inspectors found 4 packages with 1104 pieces of jewelry made of white metal. The expert examination established that the items are made of silver, sample 925, weighing 3073 grams, worth BGN 10,755. The silver jewelery has been impounded. The violator was issued an act under the Customs Act.
