More than 1,000,000 undeclared euros were found in a bus by the customs officers of the Kapitan Andreevo BCP

Customs officers found undeclared currency with a lev equivalent of over BGN 1,950,000 during a check of a bus leaving the country.

On June 11, 2022, a bus with Turkish registration arrived at the checkpoint, traveling from Germany via Bulgaria to Turkey. In the bus, with a driver - a Turkish citizen, traveled two more drivers and two passengers. According to the "risk analysis" method, the bus is selected for a thorough customs inspection, including X-rays. During the customs inspection a specially built cache was found, in which 34 packages containing euro banknotes of different denominations were hidden. The total amount of the  undeclared currency is EUR 1,000,285 with a BGN equivalent of BGN 1,956,387.

Rapid proceedings were instituted in the case by an investigating customs inspector under the supervision of the Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office - Svilengrad Territorial Department.

The prosecutor's office indicted one of the passengers, N.T., 57, and one of the drivers, B.C., 50, Turkish citizens. It was found that N.T. he persuaded B.C. to provide him with a place to hide the currency he had carried, promising to give him 500 euros. The two accused were detained for up to 72 hours by a decree of a prosecutor from the Haskovo District Prosecutor's Office.
