A large quantity of 3613 packages of contraband medicines was detained by the customs officers of the Kapitan Andreevo BCP in a truck entering from Turkey. The inspection is part of the overall anti-smuggling operations with the participation of officers from National Customs Agency, the DG Border Police, the DG Combating Organized Crime and the National Revenue Agency.
On 10.08.2024, a truck driven by a Kosovar citizen arrived at Kapitan Andreevo BCP on the inbound route into the country. The driver presented documents that he was transporting goods in transit from Turkey to Kosovo via Bulgaria. During the subsequent customs inspection with X-ray equipment, suspicious areas in the cargo were marked. A physical inspection was carried out, during which the customs inspectors found among the declared goods in the inner part of the cargo 6 cartons with medicinal products. It was established that the cartons contain a total of 3613 packages - blisters, injection solutions and vials with 24 types of drugs with different uses in medicine, including anabolic steroids.
The contraband medicines were seized. The truck driver was charged with an administrative offense under the Customs Act.
