Nearly 78 kg of marijuana worth over BGN 1.240 million were seized at the Lesovo BCP
115 vacuumed packages with nearly 78 kg of marijuana were detained by customs officers at the Lesovo BCP during two separate checks of a light truck and a car.
In the first case, on 14.03.2025, a light truck arrived at the Lesovo BCP on an incoming route from Turkey - a minibus with foreign registration driven by a Romanian citizen with the initials D.B. At the request of the Border Police officers a thorough check of the vehicle was carried out.
In the course of the control actions, a total of 100 packages of dry grass were found in the sleeping compartment above the driver of the minibus, hidden in bags with personal luggage and under the mattress of the bed. During the field drug tests, the substance in the packages reacted to marijuana. The amount of marijuana was a total of 60.176 kg of gross weight.
In the second case, on 16.03.2025, a car with Bulgarian registration, driven by a Bulgarian citizen with the initials D.M., arrived at the Lesovo BCP on an outgoing route from Bulgaria to Turkey. The vehicle was selected by customs officers for a thorough inspection, during which after dismantling the front and rear bumpers of the car, a total of 15 vacuumed packages with dry grass mass were found. It was found that the substance in the packages was marijuana with a total gross weight of 17.572 kg.
The seized marijuana in both cases is a total of 77.748 kg of gross weight worth more than BGN 1.240 million at prices for the needs of the judicial system.
Two pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the cases which are conducted by investigating customs inspectors under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office - Yambol.
