Customs and police officers found nearly 99 000 pieces of smuggled cigarettes in a truck during a joint inspection at the Lesovo BCP.
On 20.11.2024, upon a signal from employees of the Economic Crime Countermeasures Sector at the Directorate of Internal Affairs and Internal Affairs – Yambol in cooperation with the employees of the National Customs Agency, in the course of a specialized police operation at the Lesovo BCP, an inspection of several trucks entering the country was carried out.
In one of the trucks, with a Turkish registration, a well-made "plug" was found, behind which 98,800 pieces (4,940 boxes) of cigarettes without a Bulgarian excise stamp of one brand were found. The tobacco products were seized and a report was drawn up for the established violation of the Customs Act.
The inspection was carried out as part of the joint anti-smuggling operation, with the participation of teams from National Customs Agency, the DG Border Police, the DG Combating Organized Crime and the National Revenue Agency.
