Customs officers from TD Bourgas Customs found undeclared 1 015 270 EUR in a truck at  Lesovo BCP.

The truck with an attached refrigerated semi-trailer arrived at Lesovo BCP on 17.11.2022 on a route for outbound trucks to Turkey. The vehicle was traveling unladen on a route from the Netherlands to Turkey. The driver - a Turkish citizen - announces in the customs control area that he has nothing to declare. Using the risk analysis method, officers from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department select the vehicle for a thorough inspection. In the course of the control actions, the customs inspectors found bundles of euro banknotes of different denominations, wrapped in foil and placed in factory cavities around the unit of the refrigerated semi-trailer. It was established that the total amount of the hidden currency is in the amount of 1 015 270 euros with the BGN equivalent of 1 985 695 BGN.

The undeclared currency for nearly BGN 2 million has been seized. In this case, a pre-trial proceeding was initiated by an investigative customs inspector from TD Bourgas Customs, which is being conducted under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office – Yambol.

Actions on the investigation are ongoing. District Prosecutor's Office - Yambol brought to criminal responsibility the Turkish citizen D.A. The criminal act is qualified under Art. 251, Para. 1 of the Criminal Code.
