Nearly 30,000 cigarettes with a Bulgarian excise label were seized by TD Customs Rousse
Customs officers from TD Customs Rousse found 29,400 cigarettes in the spare tires of a truck traveling from Turkey to Great Britain.
On 24.07.2024 at around 08:45 a.m. in the area of the Danube Bridge - Rousse BCP, a truck with Turkish license plates transporting sugar products was stopped for inspection. The vehicle was diverted for inspection with a mobile X-ray system, where an area of suspicious density was noted - the two spare tires on the semi-trailer. Customs inspectors directed the truck to the hall for a thorough customs inspection. After dismantling the two spare tires, the customs officials found that 1,470 boxes (29,400 shorts) of a world-famous brand of cigarettes were hidden in them, all of them affixed with a Bulgarian excise label.
The tobacco products were confiscated, and an act was drawn up for the establishment of an administrative violation.
