300,000 pieces cigarette hidden in furniture were discovered by the customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP

Contraband cigarettes hidden in furniture were discovered by inspectors at the National Customs Agency and police officers of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Haskovo during an inspection of a truck entering the country from Turkey.
On 22.12.2024 a truck with Turkish registration arrives at Kapitan Andreevo BCP. The driver, a Turkish citizen, presents to the customs officers documents for the transported goods, some of which are furniture from Turkey to Great Britain and the Netherlands. According to the "risk analysis" method, the vehicle was selected for a thorough customs inspection, including with X-ray equipment, where unusual densities were noted in the transported goods. In the course of the control actions, it was found that 15 of the pieces of furniture - cabinets with a mirror cover - had cigarette boxes hidden in them. The total amount of seized contraband tobacco products is 15,000 boxes (300,000 pieces) of cigarettes with a foreign excise label with a market value of BGN 96,000.
In this case, a pre-trial proceeding was initiated by an investigating customs inspector under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office - Haskovo.
From the beginning of the year until now, Kapitan Andreevo BCP customs officers has detained nearly 23,300,000 pieces cigarettes.
